About me

Matthew Sackman ALCM - Singing Teacher

services

Hi, my name is Matt, and I am a freelance singing teacher covering Portsmouth, Fareham, Havant, Waterlooville and the surrounding areas.

Teaching is my passion, my speciality is Musical Theatre, but I also have extensive experience in opera, rock, pop and jazz genres.

My singing lessons are suitable for any age, and I offer one to one sessions as well as group sessions. I am very flexible, you can come to me for lessons or I can come to the comfort of your own home. I provide all music and have a portable keyboard.

Singing lessons are a wonderful hobby, but if you wish to pursue singing more formally, I can help prepare you for LCM exams, amateur or professional auditions or local Singing festivals. I can help develop your confidence, and help you to develop or practice your technique as an already confident vocalist.

MY APPROACH TO SINGING TUITION

Music is a wonderfully expansive form of expression, where no one musician is the same or ultimately defined. It is this uniqueness that makes music so personal as well as entirely universal; and it is this idea that stands as the backbone of my lessons.

To bring out the absolute best in my students, I cater my lessons to focus on the individual. I enrich their natural voice through personalized techniques of vocal development and vocal safety, use their unique attitudes to improve their expression and combine the two to create confident and competent performers.

MY BACKGROUND

I am an Associate of the London College of Music (ACLM) and have a degree in Creative & Performing Arts (BA) from Portsmouth University. In addition to one-on-one singing tuition, I work as an Acting and Musical Theatre Lecturer for Havant & South Downs College.

I have over a decade's experience teaching one to one and group work, along with experience in directing, stage management, music & theatrical directorship for both local Youth and Adult companies including Havant Dynamo youth theatre, South Downe Musical Society and CCADS.

As a character piece the accolades just have to be heaped on the head of Matt Sackman as Bela Zangler, he was perfect; and that sequence between him and Bobby Child in tandem was so reminiscent of ‘The Two Ronnies’ Crazy For You - Review 2013 NODA

For me, the scenes with Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Present were the most memorable. Matt Sackman (The Ghost of Christmas Present) had great personality and his performance lit up the stage.
